IBM zertifiziert dimensio als “Ready for IBM DB2 Database Software”

Wie bereits vorangegangene Tests mit  IBMs DB2 Datenbank im Schwäbischen Ehningen gezeigt hatten, kann  dimensio auch dieses Profiwerkzeug der Datenverwaltung noch gehörig  beschleunigen. Deshalb gab der letzte Test den Ausschlag, eine  Zertifizierung der Software durch IBM zu beantragen. Am Donnerstag, den  18.10. kam schließlich die erfreuliche Mail:

Dear Alexander,

Congratulations! We would like to  formally congratulate you and the rest of the dimensio informatics GmbH  team in being validated with the “Ready for IBM DB2 Database software” mark for your application "dimensio".

You will soon receive an email  inviting you to sign the online agreement and make the partnership  official. Once you have reviewed and signed this agreement, your IBM  Global Solutions Directory profile will be attached with the validation. From your account, you can directly download your newly earned  Validation Mark!

Now that you are a validated DB2  partner, we would like to list your company and solution on our  Information Management Solution Portal (http://www.ibm.com/software/data/bp-solutions), a new IBM initiative that highlights some of our best partners' solutions.

In addition, your company and  solution have already been listed on the 'Validated Solutions' tab of  our official Ready for IBM DB2 database Software Company listing  website: www.ibm.com/db2/validate.

Testumgebung:
Rechner: System x 3850 M2 (Klarabella) ; 4 x Quad-core Xeon X7350 2.93 GHz (8 MB L2 Cache) ; 16 GB RAM ; 4 x 73 GB Disks, Redhat 5.5; DB2 Enterprise 9.7 FP4
Test-Datenbank:
bestehend aus 1 Tabelle mit 998 Spalten und ca. 8 Mio. Datensätzen; Wertebereich: 0 oder 1
Testscenario und verwendetes Tool:
Punktabfragen, Ausführung von insgesamt 10 - 20 Queries; DB2TOP

DB2 Optimierung / DB2 Einstellungen:

1. Anzahl Bufferpool Pages wurden erhöht auf 400.000
2. Datenbank wurde komprimiert, auf 1/10 der ursprünglichen Größe
3. Index wurde komprimiert
4. Setzen der kumulativen Registry-Variable DB2_WORKLOAD= SAP
5. Parallelität aktivieren durch Setzen des Parameters INTRA_PARALLEL=YES

Ergebnis:
Die mit der dimensio-Software durchgeführten Abfragen auf die Datenbank  waren 3x - 10x schneller als die Abfragen, die direkt an die DB2  geschickt wurden.
